Engine oils are permanently subject to many changes concerning specifications, both according to the OEM manufacturers and according to the new ACEA 2016 standard.
At the start of 2019, a brand new product is in the spotlight and ready for launch. Typical for this product is the combination of several new requirements of the car manufacturers: BMW LL-17, MB 229.71 and the ACEA 2016 standard C5. This product is specially developed according to recent CO2 emission laws and is characterized by low HTHS (High Temperature High Shear) rates around 150° C or between 2.6 and 2.9 CP. This fuel-saving oil is suitable for petrol and diesel engines for passenger cars and light vans. C5 is a standard for motor oils that remain extremely stable, characterized by Mid SAPS properties and oils suitable for cars with a diesel particle filter. It stands for an oil that strives even more for lower fuel consumption and longer oil change intervals. The oil is currently used in HYUNDAI engines, although the applications will expand rapidly.
